Company Vehicle Injuries
Many workers are required to travel for their jobs, and they often do so in a company vehicle. Deliveries are almost always made in company vehicles, which can be anything from a car or van to a huge 18-wheel truck. In addition, some employees travel to different office sites or have to go inspect locations away from their offices and take a company vehicle to do this.
Some of these vehicles, especially larger delivery trucks, may require a special license to operate. If the employee has not been trained and licensed to drive that particular vehicle, it is unnecessarily dangerous for them to operate it.
The same road hazards faced by those driving their own cars also apply to company vehicles. The vehicles must be properly maintained, with routine maintenance, oil changes, vehicle inspections, tire checks, and the like. Failure to maintain a vehicle could have potentially deadly consequences. It is the responsibility of the company to ensure the vehicle’s safety.
One particularly important and often overlooked maintenance step is to ensure that all headlights and tail lights are functioning properly. Driving at night is dangerous enough as it is, even without the added risk of a missing or malfunctioning headlight or tail light. Proper insurance is also an important concern for company vehicles.
