Construction Accidents
Working in construction is, without a doubt, one of the most dangerous jobs a person can have. The materials are often dangerous, the locations are dangerous, and the projects themselves are dangerous. There are a seemingly infinite number of ways to be injured in construction, and many of them are extremely serious.
Road construction, for example, is dangerous in a few ways. In addition to the inherent dangers of the various jackhammers, cement mixers, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery involved, there are hundreds of cars flying by at high speeds. If a worker steps the wrong direction, it could be fatal.
The same idea applies to high altitude construction. The materials themselves are dangerous again, as well as the added risk of falling down from the tall building. Scaffold accidents are common, as they are often hastily constructed and are not as sound as they could or should be.
Crane accidents are also a cause of construction injuries, as the mishandling of them or their collapse because of uneven weight distribution brings about disastrous results. Sometimes, injuries occur from a failure to follow safety guidelines, like wearing a hardhat, but sometimes the accidents cannot be prevented by workers and can have disastrous results.
