Facial Injury

Facial injuries can be quite serious because of the complex bone structure and the vital organs that are contained in and around the facial area. Many workers do things every day that put them at risk for facial injury without realizing it. Many employers also create environments that are unsafe and have great risks for facial injury, and they may not know that they are doing it.

Heavy machinery, particularly the huge machines that can take the place of thousands of workers, can be a significant source of facial injuries. Their many moving parts, swinging arms, and shifting levers can all cause significant injuries to anyone that is near them.

People unfamiliar with these machines are at a great risk because they may not understand exactly where they would face dangers from the machines. If they get caught in the wrong place, or if part of the machine manages to hit them in the face, there can be significant injuries to the eyes, nose, mouth, cheekbones, throat, and other very important body parts.

These injuries can be incapacitating and can require reconstructive surgery, plastic surgery, or other significant medical attention. It is important that all employers provide a safe work environment for their employees so that these accidents can be avoided as much as possible.
