Propane Heater Injuries
The winter months can often be a difficult time for construction workers who are often forced to perform the duties required of them in inclement weather conditions. Construction sites often provide portable propane heaters to help keep employees warm, but if the heaters are not properly treated or placed, they may pose a serious hazard to individuals working near them.
Propane heater accidents can cause minor injuries like cuts and slight burns to major injuries requiring hospitalization and rehabilitation. If an employee suffers injury caused by an accident on the job-site, he or she may be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits to help pay for lost wages, medical bills, and other expenses. If you have been injured in a work-related accident, contact the Pennsylvania workers’ compensation lawyers of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C. at 610-667-7511 today.
Propane Heater Safety
The following tips can help keep a heater from exploding, rupturing, or burning workers on the job site:
- Always use propane heaters in the manner in which they were intended
- Do not use heaters in an unventilated area. Be sure to open windows or doors to make sure the room is properly ventilated while the heater is in use.
- Be sure to place propane tanks a safe distance away from the actual heating unit.
- Do not place propane tanks near open flames, sparks, or flammable items
- Do not place the heater near paint, oil, gas, or other combustible materials
- Make sure to have heaters inspected and repaired before use and make sure that all hoses and cables are in good condition before turning the heater on.
