Construction accident at Penn. high school injures one

A worker was injured yesterday after falling from a high lift while working on construction at Lower Merion High School.

 The lift the man was working on tipped over trapping the man underneath it. What caused the lift to tip over is unknown at thus point. The man suffered face injuries and possible head trauma. Other workers freed from underneath the life. He was then flown to the hospital at the University of Pennsylvania. It is unknown if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the accident.

Pennsylvania construction company cited by OSHA

A Pennsylvania construction company was cited after a worked fell 225 feet off a building.

The company, Mariani &Richards Inc., was investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administrationin August 2009 after the death of a worker. After the investigation, OSHA found that the company was not providing their workers with necessary fall protection while working on a building in downtown Pittsburgh. They were cited with one willful violation and fined $70,000. This company was cited for the same thing in 2007 but didn't take the proper steps to correct the issue.

Two Pennsylvania Construction Workers Trapped on Site, One Injured

Construction workers were trapped after snow collapsed on them on site.

The workers were installing a compressor station at a site when the snow fell off of a building roof. Six workers were at the site working on coating pipes under an awning when the snow fell and trapped to workers underneath it. The other workers quickly pulled the two men out. One of the men was injured. The other walked away with no injury. The injured worker was transported to the hospital with a potential broken leg. It has not beeen decided if OSHA will be investigating the site.

OSHA fines construction company after worker's death

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined C.A Franc, a construction company, after being investigated in a worker's death.

The construction worker fell 40 feet to his death. OSHA was investigating the accident and found that the company was not protecting their workers from falling at worksites. There fine is $539,000 for 10 violations. When investigating, OSHA found that 10 workers were allowed to work in unsafe conditions. The company was fined for all 10 other the workers.

Man Dies After Falling from Roof of Church

A man was helping to demolish a church when he fell from a roof and died.

The 52-year-old man fell from a lift at the demolition site. The coroner said that his harness was not was not hooked to the machine properly. It is suspected that a piece of granted tipped the bucket. Another man also fell but was saved by his harness. Inspectors for OSHA are investigating the site.
