Preventable Work Place Injuries

Posted on July 27th, 2009 No Comments

Some workplace injuries are unavoidable.  No workplace can be perfectly safe,  however it should be as safe as reasonably possible to protect workers.  Unfortunately,  this standard is not always followed by some organizations.

Many individuals are seriously injured because of decisions that were made to save money.   Some companies will choose a cheaper alternative that has the possibility of putting workers in a dangerous situation.  Further,  some of the cost-cutting alternatives methods may be carried out in a way in which the risk to the worker is increased more than normal. If this type of situation happens, the company may be held responsible for an injury.

A 54 year-old construction worker was recently killed in an accident.

The worker was taking part in a construction site project,  when a metal attached came apart.  The metal attachment was used to hold scaffolding together. The object with metal attached to it fell nearly five stories to the ground below.  The worker was hit in the head by the object as it fell.

Workers who saw the object fall, attempted to warn others below by yelling.  One worker was able to move out of the way,  but the other was still struck by the object.

Slip and Fall Accidents

Posted on July 8th, 2009 2 Comments

One of the main concerns for many workers is injury.  A common workplace accident that occurs for many workers is slipping and falling.

This type of accident is particularly common in restaurants or work places where an individual is on their feet for many hours of the day.  These accidents can range from minor injuries to seriously long term disabilities.

It is suggested that individuals and workplaces take precautions to ensure that the possibility of these types of accidents is minimized.

Workers Injured During Holiday

Posted on July 6th, 2009 No Comments

Across the nation,  many workers were injured over the weekend as they attempted to help everyone else celebrate the holiday.  The 4th of July, a time of celebration because of our nations independence,  had several incidents where workers were seriously injured or killed.

Many of these types of injuries came from firework accident.  Workers helping to conduct a firework show were injured at multiple locations across the nation, with several deaths.

It is unfortunate when any accident takes place, but it seems more unfortunate when the individuals involved were trying to bring joy and happiness to other individuals during the holiday.

The American Workforce

Posted on July 1st, 2009 No Comments

The American workforce represents a lot about America.  The variety of workers, backgrounds, education, and culture, are all a part of our national workforce.

It is a firm belief that America has the best and hardest workers in the world.  Because of this,  it is important that healthcare and treatment of any worker injured on the job is a priority for the company itself, but also for our country.

When an individual is injured and is denied care,  the system as a whole suffers because it seems to make this type of treatment acceptable when it clearly is not.
