Traffic Accidents Large Factor in Work Related Accidents

Posted on October 26th, 2009 No Comments

A large amount of accidents that occur while an individual is on the job involves traffic accidents.  Many workers are constantly on the road as a part of their daily job duties.  Being on the road for large amounts of time increases the chances of being involved in an accident.  For many workers,  it is only a matter of time before they are involved in an accident.

The severity of traffic accidents can range from relatively minor to extremely serious.  It is important that whatever level of severity the accident is that the worker receive the proper treatment and compensation from their employer.  If this does not occur,   action needs to be taken to correct the situation and get the treatment that is deserved.

Machinery Can Cause Severe Trauma

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 No Comments

Many machinery accidents results in severe trauma for an individual.  The moving parts and nature of factory machinery can pose a serious danger to an individual's safety.  Trained professionals should only be working at machinery because of the possibility of severe injury.  Many times,  an individual can lose an arm or hand after attempting to repair temporarily disabled equipment.

The risk of working with this type of heavy machinery requires proper training and knowledge to safely repair any disabled equipment.  If a machine appears to be disabled,  do not assume that it is.  Take all the necessary steps to fully disable machinery before attempting any sort of repair.  Failure to do so could lead to long term disability.

Important to Utilize Safety Equipment

It is important for any work place and the employees at that work place to utilize all safety equipment available.  Many accidents, some of them fatal,  occur because of improper utilization of safety equipment.  If the employees or employers took the time to verify that all equipment is properly utilized, work place injuries would likely drop.

It is ultimately up to the safety coordinators and management to ensure that the proper safe guards and protections are in place to prevent possible injuries.

Protective Head Gear Important

Posted on October 12th, 2009 No Comments

When working with the possibility of objects falling from above,  the use of helmets and other protective head gear is essential. Many workers are injured each year from an accident involving objects falling from above.

These types of accidents are common in areas where construction is taking place.  Normally,  these accidents are seen when workers are working on floors above the ground level.  If an object falls from these types of heights,  it can cause serious damage to an individual working below.  Because of this,  it is important that the proper steps are taken to ensure that all workers have the proper protective gear on that would protect against an accident from occurring.

The dangers of mold in the workplace

Posted on October 9th, 2009 No Comments

One of the most hazardous substances in the workplace is mold. Mold in the workplace can lead to numerous ill health effects, including congestion, cough, asthma, and sever headaches. Mold can also be a sign of asbestos, which is a cause of a serious form of  lung cancer.

When mold begins to form, it is potentially damaging to businesses because it spreads quickly, especially when there is moisture. For this reason, mold is often found in bathrooms and around air conditioning systems.

Electrical Work Dangerous

Posted on October 5th, 2009 No Comments

Electrical work can be some of the most dangerous type of work for a variety of reasons.  To begin,  electricity is very dangerous if not properly controlled.  A sudden shock could seriously injure a worker in an instant causing severe electrical workers.

Many times when a worker is working on a power line,  the worker will be high in the air. If an injury were to occur at this type of height, the risk of falling is increased which could lead to further injury.

Electrical work is dangerous, and because of this a worker should always be cared for and treated if injured while on the job.
