Two Pennsylvania Construction Workers Trapped on Site, One Injured

Construction workers were trapped after snow collapsed on them on site.

The workers were installing a compressor station at a site when snow fell off of a building roof. Six workers were at the site working on coating pipes under an awning when the snow fell and trapped two workers underneath it. The other workers quickly pulled the two men out. One of the men was injured. The other walked away with no injuries. The injured worker was transported to the hospital with a potential broken leg. It has not beeen decided if OSHA will be investigating the site.

OSHA fines construction company after worker's death

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined C.A Franc, a construction company, after being investigated in a worker's death.

The construction worker fell 40 feet to his death. OSHA was investigating the accident and found that the company was not protecting their workers from falling at worksites. The fine issued was $539,000 for 10 violations. When investigating, OSHA found that 10 workers were allowed to work in unsafe conditions. The company was fined for all 10 workers.

Man Dies After Falling from Roof of Church

A man was helping to demolish a church when he fell from a roof and died.

The 52-year-old man fell from a lift at the demolition site. The coroner said that his harness was not was not hooked to the machine properly. It is suspected that a piece of granted tipped the bucket. Another man also fell but was saved by his harness. Inspectors for OSHA are investigating the site.

Work-Related Stress Claimed in Worker's Compensation Case

A former Deputy Warden in Wilkes Barre is claiming worker's compensation benefits for "work-related" stress he claims he suffered while working at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. The official claims that he is entitled to payments from the county worker's compensation fund. The former worker says he experienced episodes of "blacking out", anxiety, and severe panic attacks while on the job. The county is refuting his claims, saying he suffered from anxiety during periods in which he was not employed with the county.
