What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Posted on Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 at 7:13 pm

The carpal tunnel is the space between the wrist bone and the fibrous band. A nerve then passes through this tunnel and gives sensation to parts of the hand. If an activity or condition can cause the nerve to swell or change, then the nerve becomes irritated an can cause tingling or numbness in the thumb.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by a repetitive motion injury at work and affect some professions more than others. A few professions where this injury could occur are office and computer work, meatpacking, cleaning, sewing and electronics personnel. Repetitive motion injuries may prevent you from doing your job because of the pain.

If this has happened to you, you may be able to receive compensation for your pain and missed work. Contact the carpal tunnel syndrome lawyers of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C., by calling 610-667-7511 today.
