Pennsylvania industrial accident causes worker to suffer serious leg injury

An industrial accident that occurred in Quarryville, Pennsylvania caused one worker to suffer a serious leg injury after a piece of steel fell onto his leg.

According to officials, the accident occurred at Steel Systems Installations when the worker was in the welding shop and a piece of steel fell onto his leg, crushing it.

The steel did not pin the man down, but did cause what emergency crews considered to be life-threatening injury. He was taken to Lancaster General Hospital by coworkers in order to be treated. The industrial accident is still being investigated at this time.

Worker injured in New York industrial plant accident

A worker was killed in a New York industrial accident that occurred last week.

According to Suffolk County officials, the accident occurred as the 56-year-old man was working at Clare Rose Distributors and his legs became stuck in a compacting baler machine at the plant.

The traumatic injury to his legs caused him to lose a severe amount of blood. He was in serious condition when he was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the incident.

Man injured after being pinned by forklift

A worker was injured at Cape Town harbour after he was pinned between a forklift and a ship’s hull.

The man was working to clean the ship’s interior when the accident occurred. According to a spokesman, the accident occurred as forklift lost traction while trying to move cargo and large crate pieces.

It began to skid and collided with the worker causing him to be trapped between the lift and the interior of the hull. The man suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to the hospital to be treated.

Factory worker struck by forklift

A factory worker from Essex was injured after he was struck by a forklift while working at the Surya Food factory.

The man broke his leg in the collision and suffered from extensive bruising. After an investigation, it showed that the forklift was operating in areas that were congested with workers and there was no separation between the workers and moving vehicles.

Firm cited for 36 workplace violations

A firm from Jersey City has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Healthy Administration with 36 violations and were fined nearly $160,000.

The corporation was cited after energy sources exposed workers to potential injury during the maintenance of equipment. The corporation manufacturers gum products for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical companies.

The company received penalties for two willful violations, 33 serious violations and one other violation that did not have a penalty.
