Posted on August 29th, 2011 No Comments

A man is now being remembered by loved ones after he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a workplace accident.

The accident occurred last week while the man was at work and a large steel bin fell onto him causing him to be trapped underneath and to suffer from serious head injuries.

Officials said that the head injuries were so severe, there was nothing that they could do for him. Friends and neighbors are now collecting funds in order to help the family with costs.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim at this time.

Brain injuries may go undiagnosed in soldiers

An investigation by NPR and ProPublica states that soldiers who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are not diagnosed or treated properly with brain injuries.

The mild-traumatic injury can occur from shock waves from roadside bombs ripplling through the brain causing damage that may lead to lasting brain injury. Military figures say that nearly 115,000 soldiers suffer from mild traumatic brain injury.

The investigation found that top Army officials believe that the figure may be much higher. In their investigation they found a study that stated that when soldiers return home, one of the tests done misses nearly 40 percent of concussions.
