Walt Disney World keeps ride closed after mechanic’s death

Posted on June 8th, 2011 No Comments

Walt Disney World is currently still investigating the death of a resort mechanic that occurred while he was working on the Primeval Whirl. The ride was scheduled to reopen in April, but that was postponed so that an investigation could be completed.

The ride was originally shut down in January for maintenance and then in March, the 52-year-old mechanic was killed when he was struck by one of the ride vehicles in the attraction.

The man suffered a major head injury and was pronounced dead later that day. This is not the first time that an accident occurred that caused the Primeval Whirl to need safety upgrades. In November 2007, a worker was hit by a ride vehicle and it caused her to fall three feet where she hit her head and died five days later.
